I'm a fairly fit guy, I work out probably 10-12 times a week and was looking to add rowing to my cardio routine for all the benefits that it provides. I'm also fairly frugal so I saw this rower priced pretty low and afer reading some halfway decent reviews on another site, decided to order from Amazon. Shipping was free and arrived in two days via Amazon Prime. Opened up the box and pull all the pieces out only to find several shards of plastic in the bottom of the box. Turns out part of the casing of the rowing mechanism, which is made of fairly thin, cheap plastic, had been cracked and broken off, which I assume happened during shipping. Although this damaged the aesthetics of the machine, I realized it would still function as it should and so I decided to put it together anyway. This part is quite easy, which is why it gets two stars. Once I got it together I decided to give it a try and was majorly disappointed. It has adjustable resistance settings from 1 to 10 and even when I set it at 10, there was not enough resistance to make for a difficult workout for me. The parts all move quite smoothly and seem to work well, so maybe this would be good for someone just starting to work on their fitness, but for anyone else, probably not going to be enough. I could've lived with the broken plastic just to avoid the hassle of sending it back, but because it doesn't work as it should, I'm returning it.

Full disclosure - my "other" rowing maching is a Concept 2, which I understand is the gold standard of rowing machines. I needed a second machine to use in my apartment on weekdays during a one year out of town assignment. Buying another $900 Concept 2 wasn't an option, so I went for inexpensive. I should have spent more.
The real problem with the Sunny machine is that it's too short. You can't develop a full stroke, because the pull handle is at the same point as the foot rests. You only get about 2/3 of the exercise. Watch the training video on the C2 site to see what I mean. I don't think the seat roller mechanism is going to survive for a year. After two months it still sheds small crumbs of black plastic with each use. The seat itself is well padded but poorly designed. The ridge across the back rubs the small of my back just below my tailbone. Painful. My interim solution is to sit on a folded towel, which lifts my butt above the ridge. Now I understand why the C2 seat is notched in the back. The stoke counter inexplicably shuts off or resets in the middle of my workout. The "instruction manual" for this device is printed on both sides of a 2" x 3" piece of paper, so there is no explanation to be found there.
On the positive side, I really appreciate going home on weekends and climbing back on my C2. Bottom line - I don't you can expect to get a decent rowing machine for $200. Look for a machine that allows you to move through a full front to back rowing motion, and I guarantee you'll enjoy the workout.

This rower is a little small for a man,but seems to suit an average woman just fine. The ribbing on the seat rubs your tailbone a little. I like to row for a while and it can get annoying and a little painful. The Phoenix rower I had before was more suited for a man and more comfortable, but more expensive.The price was OK, but could have been a little cheaper, maybe $10.00.The rowing action is very smooth throughout all difficulty levels. It makes as much noise as any other rower that I have owned.All things considered though, it is just OK. I will probably buy the Phoenix rower or another brand when I wear this one out.
